Business Need / Purpose of Role

To act as the Weir representative and client technical focal point for valves embedded within our client NCOC’s engineering team in Aktau, Kazakhstan. NCOC operate the Kashagan field in the Caspian, the largest global discovery in the last 30 years which achieved first product exports in 2016.
Responsible for ensuring that all project requirements, technical and commercial, are performed in accordance with the agreed contract requirements, international standards and specifications.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

  • Establishing valve management system for Kashagan valves (valve register, BOM, procedures, drawings, maintenance strategies, testing requirements etc..)
  • Establish Project KPI Measure Report and improve on a monthly bases
  • Lead reliability improvement projects and identify upgrade/replacement/improvement opportunities
  • Agree strategic directions of the project in close collaboration with the client
  • Support Weir deployed technicians by:
    • Ensuring projects are adequately resourced in terms of manpower, materials and equipment.
    • Ensure that appropriate HSE Procedures, Equipment and Training are in place.
  • Liaise with the customer on all technical and commercial matters
  • Ensure projects are being managed within budgets and a cost control system is introduced & maintained appropriately
  • Valve engineering support, design reviews, consultation within NCOC/Weir/Other OEM’s
  • Troubleshooting of valve related issues and provision of recommendations
  • Review, advise improvements, provide recommendations regarding valve specifications
  • Auditing valve maintenance activities (i.e. workshop and PM/CM execution)
  • Review existing maintenance procedures and work instructions including workshop
  • Provide valve training to Technicians and Engineers
  • Provide Engineering support as required
  • Maintain oversight of live projects that all is specified and ordered as required on the project plan
  • Arrange all installation and commissioning activities of Projects
  • Provide customers with Technical and Product Information
  • Staying up-to-date with product capabilities and enhancements, as well as related competition products.
  • Serves as a resource for less experienced department staff, and provides training as needed.
  • Acts as conduit for delivering the valuable Weir engineered solutions top NCOC
  • Defines KPIs for your team and review them on a quarterly basis

  • Mentor and Develop staff

  • All aspects of project are to be completed within project cost and performance budget
  • Customer Satisfaction and positive relations to be maintained at all times.
  • Ensuring that all valve related service / repair works are conducted in accordance with the required national / international or client specifications.
  • Abide by the Companies Heath, Safety, Environment and Quality polices in place at all times

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Highly experienced working within the Pipeline and/or Valve industry, preferably with service and maintenance experience.


Language Skills:

The ability to communicate effectively with clients and company staff relating to the contract and gain the confidence of the customer in our capabilities to perform.


Reasoning Ability:

Able to carry out Technical evaluation of situations related to Valves and Actuators, and recommend and communicate suitable remedial steps. Should be flexible and well organized. Able to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.


Computer Skills:

Computer literate on MS Office applications specifically related to presentations, report writing and tender preparation. Able to use client SAP ERP and SAP Blueprint systems when required.


Physical Demands:

Physically fit for offshore and onshore mobilizations and capable of working extended working hours as dictated by urgent client requirements.
